The produce department has continued to become more and more important
to the success of a super market in the late 1990's. We strive for
more variety and better quality every year. Due to our continued
focus on this department, improved transportation, and high tech growing
methods that the industry has developed, I feel we have been able to keep
up with the increased demands for you, our customer. While all these
improvements have taken place in the fruit and vegetable business, the
price in real dollars has decreased in the last 50 years. Through
expansions, our store was designed to emphasize produce and give us a
better tool to give you, our customer, what you have come to expect in
a first class supermarket. And to top it off, you don't have to
go to the "BIG CITY", we have it right here in Spooner, Wisconsin.
We receive 5 or more produce deliveries every week and have access to
just about any fruit or vegetable that comes into this country - again,
right here in Northern Wisconsin.
Ken Marske got
his start with the store as a high school student in 1983. Ken
worked off and on in the store in several departments through the years.
He came back to organization in 1995 and had a brief tour as the night
manager until an opportunity in the produce department presented itself.
Ken really enjoys the produce business and it shows as you cruise through
his department. When you are in the department, be sure and say
hello, and if you have any questions, problems or special requests,
be sure and let him know.
